| About
me... I have been riding Motorcycles since my Army days back in
1972. When I got back stateside after my tour in Germany I got
my first Kawasaki. A 1972 three cylinder two-smoke. That bike
was a real blast, but in the autumn of 1976 I moved up to the
brand new KZ 650 in Kawi's line-up. I hung on to that bike for
over ten years, but along the way it sort of evolved into a
touring bike. I added a Vetter faring with a "Cycle Sound" radio
add-on, a custom seat, (that looked awful - but was very comfy),
bar-backs with LTD style handlebars and a custom paintjob. It
did not have any luggage, but my old Army duffle bag still
worked great. Before long I got the urge to move up to a true
road bike so I sold it and bought a 1981 GL 1100 Gold Wing. It
was a pretty cushy bike and could eat up plenty of miles, but
there was something missing. (That "Special K snap") I only had
it a couple of years before I saw my first ZG 1000 sitting on
the showroom floor of the local Kawasaki dealer. In the spring
of 1988 I bought the finest Sport Touring bike ever made. It was
a left-over from 1987 - a beautiful Candy Red Concours. Then in
1998 I bought my current ZG... in an awful barf green. I don't
ride it that much anymore, ever since I bought the Goldwing
GL1800 at the end of June 2003. The links above left will take
you to a modest photo page and the bike trip link will take you
to a story I wrote about my first mega-bike trip and another
story I wrote about the Edelweiss tour I took in May of 2004.
