About Lincoln Horseshoe Club
LHC/League is sponsered by Lincoln Parks and Recreation. Made up of both non-sanctioned
and sanctioned, members of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association of America (NHPA).
Tournaments sanctioned and non-sanctioned are organized and ran by the club.
Officers are elected for staggered 2 year terms. LHC membership fees consist of
the following: City of Lincoln Parks & Recreation fee, Liability Insurance,
Lincoln Horseshoe Club fee, and season game fees. The total amount of the
pitching fees is set at the annual Club meeting which is normally held
the first Tuesday of April. All applicable NHPA Official Playing Rules
are observed. A count all shoes 90% handicap scoring system, as outlined
in the current version of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association &
State Sanctioned Club/League program will be used. A pitcher's scoring average
from the previous season will be used the first 12 games of the new season.
At that time their new scoring average will be calculated on those 12 games
and thereafter it will be recalculated on a weekly basis. New pitchers
scoring average will be calculated the first night of competition and thereafter
on a weekly basis. An annual Club banquet is usually held the first Saturday
evening of October.
Registration
Season registration will take place at the University Place Park
Courts between 7:00 and 9:00 pm on the second Tuesday and Thursday of April.
The Summer pitching schedule will begin the second Tuesday in May with
competition taking place each Tuesday and Thursday evening thereafter until
the completion of the season. A team format will be followed providing
for head to head competition between teams, using a Round Robin schedule.
The season schedule may also include Position Nights to balance or fill
the schedule.
